Surrender at Murder Dubbs House

What did you do on July 4th? Set off fireworks, drink beer and salute the flag? Well, the punks at the Murder Dubbs House in Oakland did the first two items and definitely said “fuck off” to the last. There was a Pyrate Punx BBQ on the sidewalk and a homemade bar, and the last show for this house that has seen many bands in the basement. The firework battles took over the street, and I screamed like a little girl when a bottle rocket was thrown my way. Eeeeeeek!

Seeing local band Surrender, in their anarcho-punk style, was a nice way to spend July 4th, thinking of revolution against an oppressive government, and how we’re way past due for another round!
